The life of Steve McCurry related by his sister; an interesting read and accompanied by stunning photographs, both familiar ones and others never seen before. In graphical form it is a telling demonstration of the damage we have done to the world, by war in the second half of the 20th century up to the present, and in the 21st century, by environmental disasters - it is difficult to deny climate change when you see the havoc wreaked by tsunamis, flooding, earthquake etc. By coincidence Steve McCurry was in NY when the towers went down, and with his assistant he managed to sneak inside the buildings to take photos. He is a courageous and gifted man, and has helped many of his subjects financially or in their education.
The book is extremely large and heavy!
My favourite photo is a portrait of a herdsman in Srinagar, in blue, green and lilac turban and with a bright orange hennaed beard. ( )
