Loading... A Concise History of Australiaby Stuart Macintyre
None. 3371. A Concise History of Australia, by Stuart Macintyre (read Nov. 23, 2000) This is by an Australian history professor, and while I usually avoid books with "short" or "concise" in the title, I found this very informative and revealing, especially as to the aborigines and their status. This was a good book to read, at least if one doesn't know much about its subject, as I do not, tho I did read The Fatal Shore, by Robert Hughes (Apr. 3, 1988), but that dwells mainly on the convicts and their role in the beginning of Australia. no reviews | add a review

If you want a scholarly and comprehensive articulation of Australia, look no further. If you are looking for a narrative with interesting tidbits - this isn't for you.
In a nutshell, great value for money. The only 'history' of Australia I'll ever need. (
