Now, this was a fun read! I love the battletech universe, I love the tabletop game(only recently started playing it), the videogames(all of 'em) and the lore of the universe. But strangely, I am bored out of my mind reading chapters of mechs fighting each others. "Full salvo to the torso, ripping off the armor" *yaaaawwnnn*

This book had only a single mech fight, lasting 8 pages or so. YES!
Reading about the Kell brother was great, they don't back down.

Lore wise, I had read many books in the 90's, up to the clan invasion where I stopped reading, not by lack of interest, but life caught on, you know how it is! Well, this novella takes us back many decades before the clan invasion, and it's nice because it's a less complicated era :) As books moved forward, more and more characters became important and I found it tough eventually to care for them. Too many diluted the sympathy you give characters. Well, here, we're back to having 4-5 characters worthy of sympathy, the ratio is good once more :)

Joking aside, it's well written, it's a fun story, and things always move forward, there are no slow chapters. Read this! ( )
