I plan on reading American Psycho and Children of Men, two movies I ... ... me of the Nicholas Cage movie Next. Another terrific idea ground into a disposable action movie.
Bob's praise for Jumper has me wondering. Maybe I'll give it a read some time. Jumper, the original novel, is a pretty good YA sci-fi/teleportion book. From everything i've read, the movie has nothing to do w/ the original, but has, unfortunately, driven the author, Gould, to write a follow on based on the flic. Pity. ... Whalen Turner. I don't know how she conveys so much subtle meaning in such simple prose...

There are three books: Jumper, Reflex, and Griffin's Story. The third book is set in movie continuity, or so I've heard.
The director of the movie was Doug Liman, who also directed The Bourne Identity and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. ... but sadly not amazing.

Wikipedia said Laura Mixon's husband is Steven Gould, who wrote Jumper, which is on my shelf, and haven't read yet. Have to see if he mentions her at all. :)
Shows how much it is not possible to remember, either. Laura Mixon has stories in Wild Cards : Card Sharks and Wild Cards ... ... appreciate them. It's just he's so infernally slow to get new books out!
Did you hear that he got tapped to make Jumper into a movie? Only he ended up writing a whole new book called Jumper: Griffin's Story that the movie will be based on. It features this "Griffin" character ... I think Jumper by Steven Gould is a great book to ease someone into fantasy. It takes place in our world and features an ordinary guy who just happens to be able to teleport.
That is one of my favorite books of all times, and I frequently lend it to people who have either are ...
