I just finished How I live now by Meg Rosoff last night, and thought it was great. It really didn't end up the way I thought it would...I was thinking more along the lines of Flowers in the Attic or something early on, but it took a drastic turn away from that. Good stuff.
On to Kiki Strik ...
I just finished Life As We Knew It -- Phew. That was intense. I liked it a lot better than How I Live Now , though there are a lot of similarities between the two. Now I really need some fluff to clear my brain, or I'm not going to be able to get to sleep tonight!

After taking a Children's Lit class for my masters and being introduced to some YA Lit titles (I absolutely love how i live now ) I decided that it would be a great way to teach literature to my alternative ed kids. I got a grant to buy the materials (my students helped me select books) and am ...

10. Meg Rosoff- How I Live Now (D)

I recently had a lot of trouble with Just in Case by Meg Rosoff. I really liked How I Live Now and had high hopes for her second book but I just couldn't get into it. I didn't get the characters at all....
Just finished How I Live Now and really, really didn't like it. I was excited about this one, and had read many positive reviews but I couldn't even finish it (I skimmed the ending). I hated so many aspects of this book starting with the way it gleams over the incest and eating disorder and ...

... before I knew it I was absorbed. It's rare that I can find a book that absorbs me like that these days. And just like in How I Live Now , I liked seeing how the world got progressively more grim around this character who was used to the modern world. It's also a sign of a good book when you ...
What book that you read this month have you enjoyed the most?

The first book that comes to mind is one I read a few days ago, How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff.
#14: How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff
This book was amazing. I loved it. I loved the main character's voice, and how we see the grim world around her through her eyes instead of in a generic shocked tone. I found myself really caring about the characters, more than I normally do in books.
