Charming retelling of a well-known nursery rhyme.
  CECC9 | Apr 15, 2019 |
Hickory Dickory Dock is a book about the well known mother goose nursery rhyme. Different animals come see the clock, but when the clock strikes a certain time, the animals run off. This book can help students learn to tell time as well as children's rhymes and poetry. The illustrations can help the students visually see the time as they say the nursery rhyme. This book would be appropriate for children in Kindergarten to third grade.

Each hour a different animal shows up, interacts with the clock in some way, and leaves in a way that rhymes with the time. ( )

A rhythmic twist on the Mother Goose nursery rhyme; includes the mouse and the grandfather clock but so much more as a variety of animals make their way through the story. A bird, a snake, a rabbit, a swarm of bees, some hens, a pig, a goat, a bear, a horse, and the moon help teach us how to tell time.

Keith Baker displays his trademark flair for color, movement, and rhythm in this vibrant adaptation of the familiar nursery rhyme "Hickory Dickory Dock." A companion to his acclaimed Big Fat Hen, this twist on an old favorite features some serious antics on the part of a busy little mouse. As a huge grandfather clock strikes each hour from one o' clock in the afternoon to midnight, a different animal passes by, and the mouse has a funny interaction with each of them.

With counting, telling time, and a cozy bedtime ending to engage them, children will be chiming in for repeated readings.
