ETA: typo ... really be horror, more of a spy/war story with fantastic elements. So far it's been a nice one to read back-to-back with The Atrocity Archives. Both are stories dealing with the British government's clandestine dealings with the supernatural. Good stuff. Just finished the The Atrocity Archives. Going to start The Wolf's Hour by Robert R. McCammon next. 21. The Atrocity Archives by Charles Stross Atrocity Archives looks pretty good.
beeg, it's been a while, but I remember really liking Vampyrrhic. But the cover was sooooooo cheesy (naturally, that is what cause me to pick it up). Just started The Atrocity Archives, and it's good so far. It's listed as science fiction, but it's definitely in the horror, "weird fiction" tradition. Started The Domino Men, Barnes' follow-on to The Somnambulist. It's pretty good so far, reminds me somewhat of The Atrocity Archives - part James Bond, part H. P. Lovecraft. Stoss' the atrocity archives is a v. enjoyable conjoining of HP Lovecraft w/ espionage & computer hacking. Book 3: The Atrocity Archives- 316 pages. ... and just enjoy the ride, it's all great fun- gotta love a story that literally includes a plot device!
I also have The Atrocity Archives on loan, but was advised to read them out of order; might well devote the weekend to that one.
... them. I might also reread the Narnia books this year.
I'd like to take on all my Stross novels that I have lying around-Atrocity Archives, Iron Sunrise, Singularity Sky etc, I really enjoyed Accelerando last year and just haven't had the time to read these things.
Pattern Recognition ... i've only read 2 of Stoss' books..The first was the atrocity archives which i found great fun; but then i disliked accelerando so who knows. ... A werewolf problem in central russia

37. Surviva ... Just finished Charles Stross "The Atrocity Archives" which was great fun: intentionally couples Lovecraft, Deighton and Pratchett. Now in the middle of an earlier book of his, Accelerando, which is kinda Neal Stephenson/William Gibson lite and not as fun. Both Tim and Richard Powers are among ... The Atrocity Archives by Charles Stross probably qualifies. I enjoyed The Atrocity Archives a great deal, and am now looking for the sequel, The Jennifer Morgue.
I particularly recommend this series for anyone who has worked in IT. ... novels for those who don't mind their spy fiction with touches of the fantastic: Declare by Tim Powers and The Atrocity Archives by Charles Stross.
The former is a tour-de-force of "secret history," in which our knowledge gaps concerning certain historical events and ... 8. The Atrocity Archives by Charles Stross Charles Stross that I've seen tends to the good but straight sci-fi. The Atrocity Archives might not be to your personal taste, but probably deserves a mention over here.
It's hard, as always, to avoid spoilers, but this refuses to fit neatly into the slots alright. If pushed for ... Edlib at #25: that's one of the books I'm giving myself for Christmas. Really enjoyed his The Atrocity Archives ... prefer my John Le Carre or Len Deighton how they are, perhaps. How that was handled was a little odd? I preferred The Atrocity Archives by Stross, but totally different animals.
Spin was good. I did like Bold as Love etc. quite a bit too now that you mention it.
I have only ...
