Runaways ... Good list! I thought Bad Monkeys was pretty good too, especially the ending. ... to The Wood Wife by Terri Windling, which I loved. This one, while worth reading, is not as good.

A well written story ... I enjoyed both Set This House in Order and Bad Monkeys, so I'll have to look for Sewer, Gas, and Electric too. ... dark as it doesn't hide the abuse behind the MPD.. so if you are bit sensitive you might want to avoid and go for his Bad Monkeys instead (also v good).
Need to get better at short reviews! ... Set This House in Order is a bit more serious in tone. I know it was completely different from the highly entertaining Bad Monkeys, which I also recommend. He isn't very prolific is he! ... (p15)

I went to graduate school at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. Matt Ruff's first novel was "The Fool on the Hill' which I really liked. I tried reading his second novel: "Sewer, Gas and Electric" but bogged down pretty early on and haven't gone back to ... ... with.
Maybe I can return to a semblance of my earlier reading form of this year (we'll see, won't we!)

Bad Monkeys was a bit odd, but thoroughly enjoyable. ... to Rigel has been out for a bit, but was new to me. It's a really neat sci-fi spy thriller with lots of plot twists. Bad Monkeys was a spy/conspiracy story with lots of mess-with-your-mind twists.

I have to say that I didn't really enjoy Bad Monkeys. It took me about 4 tries to get through in the end, and honestly, if I hadn't listed it I probably still wouldn't have finished it. This book was recommended ... ... my own mind - so it's extremely unlikely that I'll read this again. Fortunately it's a library book.

I'm currently reading Bad Monkeys by Matt Ruff, which so far is pretty dissimilar to his other books (so far not better or worse, just different), although it's zipping along really quickly - 50 ... Bad Monkeys by Matt Ruff; recommended by my good friend Lynne. Funny, paranoid, strange; it doesn't wimp out at the end. Who are the bad guys, who are the good guys? You'll be kept guessing by one of the most unreliable narrators I've ever met in a book.
