This Level 2 Reader, designed for beginning readers, uses appropriate vocabulary and sentence length. As the story unfolds, the young reader sees several moon facts related to the story. Following the story, there are some additional moon facts for the young reader.

Fun, factual, and Frizzle-tastic for young readers.

Although the plot was very basic, I enjoyed this book because it revealed complicated information on the moon, in fun and simple terms.
Additionally, I enjoyed the character development throughout the book. Even though this was an informational text, the characters expressed realistic and relatable feelings. One chaperone on the trip was frustrated that the trip was taking so long because he thought he already knew everything about the moon. However, by the end of the book, he realized how much fun the moon could be and didn't want to leave. Another character, was scared to venture to the moon, while a third character couldn't have been more excited. Including characters with many feelings, allows children to determine what their own feelings would be like if they were in a similar situation.
The illustrations sometimes made the book hard to follow, but overall, I enjoyed them. They offered additional conversations between the characters and the faces all showed clear and varied expression. My favorite part was that in the corner of each page, the illustrator included an "essay" from different students that contained a fun moon fact. It was a clever way to convey new space knowledge.
The purpose of this book was not only to reveal facts on the moon, but to show how different people can react to situations. ( )

Ms. Frizzle takes her class on another exciting field trip. A trip to the moon is just the thing to discuss the solar system with your class. ( )
