I take a fool's pride in being able to follow the main mystery plot. I never could understand why the cop found the prosecutor's request so morally repugnant. I heard a character on a television show claim that Hamlet was bascially five soliquoies. I think this film is four superb action sequences: a bloody murder, two chases on foot, and the great car chase. ( )

Senator Walter Chalmers is aiming to take down mob boss Pete Ross with the help of testimony from the criminal's hothead brother Johnny, who is in protective custody in San Francisco under the watch of police lieutenant Frank Bullitt. When a pair of mob hitmen enter the scene, Bullitt follows their trail through a maze of complications and double-crosses. This thriller includes one of the most famous car chases ever filmed.

Very few movies are as cool as this one.
One of the greatest car chase scenes in cinema.

The 2-disc dvd has a great special features section, including an excellent documentary on movie editing. ( )
