#84 On The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin It has taken me a shamefully long time to read this, given that every single biology prof I have even taken a class with (and they are legion) said that all scientists should read this. And they are right! We should. But so should all non-scien ...

Still reading On the Origin of Species, still reading Mary Barton, still reading Ahead of All Parting. Not a lot of free time for reading right now, so I expect to be reading these three books for the next few weeks.

Didn't notice the new thread, so I'm copying this over from last week's. This week I'm reading On The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin and The Western Canon by the incredibly cranky Harold Bloom (how dare anyone make him read non-white, non-male authors!! gasp!! The horror!!). My ...

#7 jfretting - unless you're a biologist or orthinologist I'd suggest dropping Origin of the Species for Darwin's Voyage of the Beagle. I've read both and Voyage is considerably more interesting.

I'm almost finished with The House of the Dead by Fyodor Dostoevsky, and my nonfiction book is On The Origin of Species.

I'm finally reading The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin. I am going to read it all the way through this time, and not stop in the middle of the pigeon chapter because I think it's boring.

Just finished The Origin of Species from my banned books list. Very very long, but interesting, and clearly an important work that I'm glad I've read.

19. The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin (banned books list) Huh. I'm not exactly sure what to say about this one. Interesting, yet very, very long. I was, however, really surprised that I could understand it without rereading each sentence several times, and that makes me happy.
