This book published in 1934 contains thirteen sories and is the seventh book by Zweig I have read. Porbably the more memorable of the stories are "The Burning Secret" telling how a 12-year-old boy inadvertently prevents his mother from entering into an adulterous affair, and "Impromptu Study of a Handicraft" telling of a man in Paris watching a pickpocket. "LOeporella" tells of a maid who seeks to serve her master by killing his wife. None of the 13 stories is a total failure. ( )
