I loved this book! If you like Christian historical fiction, you really ought to consider reading it. It is such a sweet, light hearted story. I think it does a good job of defining love. Love encompasses attraction, but at the same time its deeper than that. Its also about friendship and the ability to face trials together. This wasn't one of those " he's so handsome so I love him" books. Although, the main character was described as a good looking guy! (I think this book was the best in the series) ( )

Inga Lindberg has immigrated to the US and is the eldest of her sisters. She doesn't see herself as beautiful compared to her sisters and sees a future as her fathers helper. When Dirk Bridger a handsome Iowa farmer comes looking for help to cope with his ailing mother and rambunctious young nieces she finds herself volunteering.

When she's at the farm she finds a niche and attraction to Dirk, but does he love her? Where would she be when he fulfils his dream of travelling the world.

Light, predictable and a gentle read. ( )

Amazon.com Book Description (ISBN 0061086886, Mass Market Paperback)

Swedish immigrant Inga Linberg might not be as beautiful as her flirtatious sisters, but that doesn't meant she doesn't share their romantic ideas. When Dirk Bridger, a handsome but beleaguered Iowa farmer, approaches her minister father for help in caring for his orphaned nieces and ailing mother, Inga immediately volunteers.

Inga goes to live at the Bridger farm as a housekeeper and finds that all is in disarray. Gradually, with patience and understanding, she begins to smooth the family's rough edges. As Inga falls in love with Dirk's little nieces, she is helplessly drawn to their bitter uncle, too. If only there was a way to live forever with this charming but lost family. But could she risk her secret dream of being loved by Dirk in return, when she knows that his dream is to leave them all behind?
