I liked this one a little better as an adult than I did as a kid. It was nice to see Claudia and Janine learning to love one another for who they are--- a concept that kind of escaped 10 year old me. Claudia and her sister, Janine, may as well be from two different planets. Claudia, who pays more attention to her art than her grades, feels she can't compete with her perfect sister. But when something terrible happens to their grandmother, the two sisters discover they're more alike than they originally thought.

I read quite a bit of these as a kid. Nothing mesmerizing or fascinating (even then) but light and fun, easy reads with decent teen drama and some mild humor. ( )

This was another favorite of mine when I was younger. Claudia's grandmother has a stroke, so this was my first introduction to serious medical issues within a family. It can show children how to handle a tough situation. It also addresses sibling rivalry and how to deal with that. ( )
