Operation Starseed was, right from the beginning, a light, enjoyable, and fun read. The characters were alternately easy to connect with and just different enough to keep you interested in them for the long run of the story. My one and only real qualm with 'Starseed' is the quickness in which the two main characters, Dylan and Neal, fall into a relationship (again).

Right from the start, we know that there is already an established connection between them; that there's a past history. However, that all seems to come to void when they're thrown back together. They fall back into one another's arms with little to no conflict. I find that hard to believe and hard to accept. Overall, however, I'd highly recommend this to anyone who wants to try out Snyder's work. You won't be disappointed. ( )

Book description

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0595222625, Paperback)

It's a little after midnight and I'm the only one on the navigation deck when the call comes in. It's a mayday signal, loud and strong from the north sector, and I don't even think it could be him until I flip over the comm-link and his voice fills the cabin. "Semper Fi to Base," he says, his voice young and laced with static. For a heart-stopping moment I freeze, my hands hovering above the instrument panel, my breath caught in my throat. Dylan? My mind races and images of him tumble through me, memories I thought I had long since buried, his dark eyes and his full lips and the way his smile can eclipse the sun, it all comes flooding back.

Neal James is a navigator on a space station whose boyfriend, Dylan Teague, left him for a new mission. But when Dylan radios in a distant signal one night, Neal discovers that he hasn't managed to put the relationship behind him. When he's sent to investigate, he finds that Dylan feels the same. Together they discover a colony where disease overshadows the love they have and threatens to destroy the colonists' only hope for survival.
