Not a comprehensive account of its subject. 3519, Saints & Sinners A History of the Popes, by Eamon Duffy (read 6 Jan 2002) Though I've read lotsa papal history, I found it a real joy to revisit the whole area in this reading. Though I had disagreements with the author, I found this eminently readable--pure history, though with a lot of opinion. An unfailingly engrossing book and I could not fail to be absorbed by the so interesting subject matter. A glaringly honest and at times harsh chronological history of the bishops of Rome. no reviews | add a review
