Fiction. Mystery. Suspense. Thriller. HTML:??A vigorous tale of twists and turns . . . An authentic thriller.???The Washington Post Book World

Murder didn't stop Mac Smith or Annabel Reed from falling in love, or from getting married at the glorious church on the hill in Washington, D.C., the National Cathedral. But the brutal murder of a friend drags them from their newlywed bliss into an unholy web of intrigue and danger.

The body is found in the cathedral. There are scant clues and no suspects. And to further complicate matters, a parallel crime is committed at a church in England's Cotswolds, where the honeymooners have recently been visitors. Across the sea go the Smiths again, and straight into the center of an ungodly plot of secret agents, a playboy priest, a frustrated lover, a choleric cleric . . . and a murder so perfect it's a sin.

What a great location for Ms. Truman's latest DC murder mystery. Once again she hits all the right local spots to prove her knowledge of her location, especially to DC residents who are kind of picky about the details when it comes to their hometown. ( )

this is the second Margaret Truman book I've read, having picked up Murder in the National Gallery and read it. This one was quite interesting. I didn't pick the murderer before the ending which is usually an indication that the writing is good.

This book starts with Mackensie Smith, former criminal lawyer and present law professor, getting married to his long-time companion, Annabel Reed. The marriage takes place in the National Cathedral in Washington and is performed by the very handsome Reverend Paul Singletary. Shortly after the wedding the Reverend is found dead in the Cathedral by blunt force trauma to his head. Mac is requested by the Bishop, George St. James, to unofficially investigate and be prepared to assist if it turns out the murder was committed by a member of the Cathedral's staff. Mac even carries the investigation over to London on their honeymoon. While staying out in the country he even encounters a dead body himself and Annabel is almost run down by a horsewoman. The story continues back in Washington where it seems almost everyone has something to hide. One of the boys from the choir is hiding something and even runs away from home. It all comes to a conclusion on a stormy autumn night. ( )

There was one. It's a mystery. Great setting for one. ( )

murder of 2 priests, nice Wash scene + countryside in England. Lawyer at Georgetown + wife - art collector

Newlyweds Mac Smith & Annabel Reed find themselves caught up in two remarkably similar murders: one in Washington D.C.'s glorious National Cathedral & the other in a village church in England's Cotswold region.
