16. Skeleton Crew by Stephen King
An average collection of short stories by Stephen King. Some of the tales are memorable, most are not. I wrote a rather lengthy review consisting of my thoughts on each story. If you are interested in my brain dump then fell free to follow the link. (
No I've only read four of his collections.

Honorable mention:
Skeleton Crew by Stephen King
I thought it was The Raft when it was adapted for Creepshow 2 and The Float in Skeleton Crew ? Probably I'm criss-crossing the titles.
(Oh yeah: I'll come up with a new quote when I get home from work...)
Is it The Float from Skeleton Crew ?
(Crosses his fingers.... think's he's got it!)
That one's definitely from The Mist in Skeleton Crew . I did a dramatic prose reading of it in Forensics in High School.
Finished Stephen King's Skeleton Crew the other night. Switching back to The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror 2006. =)

27. Skeleton Crew by Stephen King
A good collection from Stephen King, Skeleton Crew is a mixed bag of horror. While not everything was to my liking, several gave me chills. The novella "The Mist" is not normally my type of horror, but I enjoyed it for how it was told. I ...

Madcow,
Yeah, you do need to read more of King's short stories. I'd suggest starting with Skeleton Crew . That's where all the stories we've been talking about (Uncle Otto's Truck, The Jaunt, Survivor Type) come from. Plus you get The Mist. What's not to love?
I was wrong about it being in Danse Macabre, it was in Skeleton Crew . I should've known that. It's been years since I have re-read Skeleton Crew. Maybe it's time I start to go back and re-read some of King's books I haven't read in quite awhile. And read the ones I haven't read even once, yet ...
One of my most favoritest of King's short stories is "The Jaunt," which I have in Skeleton Crew . Every time I read it, I wonder how long Jaunting seems to take to the conscious mind; or, at least, whether King had a ballpark magnitude in mind.
I started back with Skeleton Crew . You get the terrific novella The Mist and a bunch of other classic stories.
I wouldn't recommend starting with Insomnia (one King book I really didn't enjoy) or Cujo (one King book I actually quit reading).
I loved It and Desperation though they ...

definately a cool topic.

Hee-hee... *blush * A couple weeks ago, I posted my not-completely-read copy of Skeleton Crew on my BookMooch inventory. I didn't think it'd get mooch for a whle, it's a common book and there's ten more on there. BUT it did, so now I've got to hurry ...
... I was just blown away. It's definately on my top five reads list. Thank you DevourerofBooks!
Now I'm off to finish Skeleton Crew , as I promised to send it Wednesday, and I still have about a third of the book to go. :-D
#91 - I really enjoyed Skeleton Crew , although my personal favorite will always be Night Shift!
... which is beyond amazing Thank you, DoB! . I was going to read The Cell, but a week or so ago, I added Skeleton Crew , which is a little more than half done now, and Two for the Dough, which I haven't even started, to my inventory at BookMooch so I could mooch another book. ...
... Matheson is one of Stephen King's inspirations, and you really see that reading this book. I happened to be reading Skeleton Crew at the same time, and that made Matheson's influence all the more obvious. Go ahead, it's well worth it!

See I think there's way to much reading into earlier King texts in the "Dark Tower explained" books. Skeleton Crew was written before Dark Tower really got going, if anything King wrote stuff into the Dark Tower series to try an connect with earlier books. (i.e. Insomnia).
