Hidden Agendas

I continue to wish that there were more books to this series. I am sure that Ms. Leigh could have come up with as many characters as her Breed books. Alas it wasn't meant to be. This is the fourth story in this series with only one full book and novella left. This is a very good story and a wonderful contribution to the overall series. We do get rid of one of the bad guys but there are several left that need to get what they so richly deserve. We also have to resolve Ian's defection. Which just about tore my heart out. Even though Ian and Kell were only briefly mentioned in Dangerous Games they have found a soft spot in my imagination.

Kell is a Cajun through and through. Even though he comes from two very rich families his life hasn't been easy. I am not sure I wouldn't have done something to the Mother for her betrayal. I think that she got off easy by dying in a car crash. Kell has grieved for 15 years and now he realizes that it is time to put the past behind him and claim the woman that has fired is heart and soul. He is a warrior as well as a romantic. He can be as cold as ice and burn up the sheets in the next paragraph. I love that he was willing to let Emily have her adventures and to train her to take care of herself and any children they will have. Kell is also loyal to a fault. I was glad that Emily convinced him to make up with his grandparents.

Emily is a typical Navy brat. Her father gave her a taste of adventure and she wants to continue doing the things that he allowed her to do when she was a child. She is very competent driving and she has taken lessons in how to fire a weapon, use a knife and how to fight. She is always researching some new idea for one of her books. Emily is also a kindergarten teacher. Which I think is very cute. She loves her father even though he has been and overbearing, protective ass sometimes. When Kell finally decides, thanks to the ever nasty Fuentes, to take Emily to bed she realizes that she loves Kell. I liked Emily for the post part and I hope to see her in other stories.

Ms. Leigh writes a good suspense story with a plot and covers several books. Her villains are always despicable vermin that really need to be taken out of the gene pool. The action scenes in this book are enthralling. The sex scenes are super spicy and steaming hot. Ms. Leigh also has added some secondary characters that I really enjoyed; Kira Porter and Jordan Malone. I was also glad to see Nathan Malone finally rescued. The story is very good and a quick read. I love the series and look forward to the next book. ( )

I really enjoyed this one. It had all of my favorite elements of a good romance - no trust issues, good relationship building, lots of dialogue, lots of steam, great characters and interesting plot. This is the kind of book I love to kill a free afternoon with. It's fast-paced and diverting without any hints of angst, pretension, or overt sappiness. The plot plays second fiddle to the uber-hot relationship between Kell and Emily. Obviously part of a related group of books, but stands on its own well enough. The characters are interesting, the action is entertaining, and the sex is great.

This book has two things I love--hot smut and alpha males. For that, I'd say it's worth a glance. ( )

Hidden Agendas by Lora Leigh is the fourth book in her Tempting SEALs series.

Although I know there are more stories in this series, I've only read the two full length novels so far and I've truly enjoyed each one!

The latest, Hidden Agendas, picks up where the last, (Dangerous Games), left off. We see early on that the big bad on the scene, Diego Fuentes, is manipulating things so that he can control one man ... the son that he never knew existed.

Although Fuentes is part of the mob underworld, his son is not, in fact quite the opposite. And to bring his long lost son to his side, he sets up a plot to kidnap Emily Stanton, someone very close to him. He also agrees to expose a mole within the inner-circle of people surrounding Emily's father, A US Senator making his way to the top by bringing down the drug mobs.

While this story is strong on heated romance, per usual Lora Leigh, what makes it play well is the intrigue surrounding the characters. But I must confess, I was way more interested in who Fuentes's son actually would turn out to be, then I was in the love story between Emily and Kell.

Don't get me wrong, they are great characters. Emily is strong and compassionate, but not without her own fears, having been raised by an overbearing father and kidnapped once by Fuentes already. Kell is uber hot and has known Emily since she was young. He's loved her for almost that long, though not without his own issues as well. (But hey, any many who loves a woman who is not all legs, 108 lbs, and blond is right on in my book!) When these two come together it's scorching hot. Still, HA is almost tame when compared to some of Leigh's other stories. No kinky sex, just straight out passion so I think this one is a good one for someone not into Leigh's usual stuff.

The plot is almost obvious with lots of hints leading you to it's inevitable conclusion. But in the end it was one character that grabbed me more than anything else and thankfully his story is up next! ( )
