I am reading Bridge of Sighs for my LT RL book group and am feeling of two minds about it. I hope the ending justifies some of the slogging I've had to do. I am also looking forward to starting to read The Big Burn: Teddy Roosevelt and the Fire that Saved America. MerryMary, this is the same ...

... I have read others of his books and love his writing and his enjoyment of U.S. history. So, having not talked about Bridge of Sighs how about having a middle of the month meeting....in a couple of weeks, maybe? Today is the 14th so how about on the Dec. 28th? or does someone have ...

... last night. We are having to scramble a little bit to keep the house warm until the repairman arrives tomorrow. I liked Bridge of Sighs and am sorry that I won't hear what everybody thought of it. Have a good time.

... The Artist, the Philosopher, and the Warrior and Wedlock, both of which I should finish this month. I've also started Bridge of Sighs and The Post-American World (audio), but I may have trouble even meeting my total of 61 books from 2008, much less surpassing it.

"Fearing that either a yes or a no might have equally disastrous consequences, I said maybe." Bridge of Sighs by Richard Russo "So, you want to join our club?"

I am stalled in the middle of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo also; put it down to read current book group read which is Bridge of Sighs by Richard Russo. I really like his descriptions of the 1950s era of small towns. I also have The Hunger Games waiting for me to return to it. And I picked ...

... thought was an excellent character study of the bright and the beautiful (under 30) in NYC. I'm also a little bit into Bridge of Sighs which is great, as is most of Russo's work.

#139-mollygrace, I read Bridge of Sighs a couple of weeks back and was, ultimately, disappointed. It was far superior, and less of a gimmick than Tears of Autumn, but when publishers push an author as the next Le Carre, I expect a certain level of quality that I don't even find in most ...

Hi Donna- In message #113, I think you meant That Old Cape Magic and not Bridge of Sighs, which of course you haven't read. I also have Bridge of Sighs sitting in my tbr. I also need to get to it. BTW, I knocked out 75 pages of The Shack and it's ok. I think I was playing it up a bit, since ...

I've only read one other by Russo - Bridge of Sighs, published a couple of years ago.
