This new edition of the book originally published in the 1970s discusses many difficult issues. As well as a symptoms guide to common medical problems, it includes an easy-to-follow description of the NHS structure, enabling women to recognize where they stand in an often confusing system.
An updated guide to women's health addresses all aspects of health issues of concern to women, including information on breast cancer, AIDS, pregnancy and childbirth, menopause, obesity, and medical practices and procedures.
Sooo important. Still. Unfortunately, the organization Our Bodies, Ourselves, the descendent of the Boston Women's Book Health Collective, has decided to stop publishing and focus on advocacy. 2011 will be the last edition. Yes, the web makes information more available, but still there is a great need for the kind of clear-headed analysis, reassurance and support OBOS always provided to women. Especially in the age of Trump. ( )
The Boston Women's Health Collective addresses the leading women's health issues of the 1990's. Here is an expanded and updated version for the 1990s and beyond of the book that has been called "the most important work to come out of the women's movement." This new edition discusses the female condom, Norplant, HIV and AIDS, chronic fatigue syndrome and more.
A serious reference for women's health and body issues! My copy is of limited value only because it's dated. I have enough faith in the organization to recommend with a fair amount of confidence whatever the newest edition is. ( )
