The Turning ... Ursula LeGuin is a brilliant woman. Have you read her collection of essays Dancing on the Edge of the World? They're quite witty but also pointed. Some people may feel inclined to dismiss her as a sci-fi/fantasy writer. She is not. She has kept track of the movements in critical theory, ... Dancing at the Edge of the World by Ursula K.
