More than just a book of quilt patterns with instructions, this book explores the community aspect of quilt making. In past times, women gathered around quilts as a social activity, whether it be a church function making quilts to give to needy families, or a gathering of friends who simply like working together. There are several quilt patterns given, with many hints of ways to share the work. A special challenge is the beginner coming into a circle of experienced quilters, but these hints tell how the author's group, which lasted for 20 years, managed to keep going and be an inspiration to all of its members.
