Veterans Day, strong connections to 1st Grade Civics

My personal response to the book: The book is great and brings the military to primary children when they are learning the alphabet. I would like to have this book added to the school's collection. Any military based primary school should have this book in their library's collection.
Curricular connections: The curricular connections include military and teaching the alphabet. A primary educator could readily use this book when teaching the alphabet. There is so much possibility and discussion following the viewing of this book.

An alphabet book that talks about all of the branches in the military. It gives vivid descriptions.

This book is a bit one sided in its explanation of the American Military, but this is to be expected in a children's book. It does a wonderful job of discussing the more admirable aspects of the military and military life and is very informative regarding certain aspects of the military. The book, especially in the poetry sections, makes various generalizations that give the reader a glimpse, however one-sided, into the mind of someone in the military. ( )
