Fiction. Literature. Suspense. Thriller. HTML:No one weaves a story as well as beloved New York Times bestselling author Fern Michaels. In the latest in the Sisterhood series, a team of unscrupulous doctors is profiting from others' distressâ??but these loyal friends know just the cure . . .

For the Sisterhood, there's a special satisfaction that comes with helping a friend in need, especially when it's someone as dear as Charlotte Hansen. Myra Rutledge's childhood friend has spent tens of thousands of dollars on remedies to boost longevity. But far from improving her health, the medications seem to be destroying it.

Myra becomes suspicious of the trio of doctors in charge of the program, especially once the Sisterhood's investigations reveal that one patient has died, and another lapsed into a coma. While those in their care suffer, the three doctorsâ??located in London, Aspen, and New Yorkâ??all enjoy indulgent lifestyles and extravagant toys. But justice is always the best medicineâ??and no one dispenses it better than the Sisterhood. . . .

If revenge mystery is not yet a genre, Fern Michaels proves that it exists. Bitter Pill was a fun, easy read that was hard to put down. It is a book in the Sisterhood series. In this one, the sisters discover who is behind a quack remedy harming people to include one of the sister's dear friends. Once they unravel the mystery behind the doctors, the sisters bring revenge upon those who have selfishly hurt others.
The chapters are short and faced paced. The plot is easy to follow, although quite fanciful at times. Be prepared to suspend your belief and go along for the ride. Because of the upbeat nature of the book, it took a darker turn than I expected at the end.
The Sisterhood seems to be a group of fund adventurous women I have not read about since Nancy Drew. There are 31 other books to enjoy in the series. There are references in Bitter Pill to previous books. The characters give plenty of information in the background and dialogue that any reader can understand what they are talking about even if you have not read the book about the event. I recommend reading this book with one caveat. If you are not yet a Fern Michaels fan, you might catch a case of "I need to read the whole series."

Another good read from Fern Michaels in the Sisterhood series. The story deals with Charolette and other women who have been duped by men pretending to be doctors. These men are giving them horrible drugs for exorbitant sums of money under the pretense that the meds will make them feel better and live longer. ( )
