A novel by Saroyan about a father and his son, a young man, and their efforts to add something to their perceived beauty and joy in the world by their writing. Apparently this was Saroyan's regret, that his own father and he had never done such a thing, and his wish that he and his own son (who later did become a writer) should do the same. Worthy and moving, although not one of his major works. ( )
