The full sub-title of this book is:
Or, a Compendium of Instructive and Entertaining Descriptions of Animals, Culled from Five Centuries of Travelers' Accounts, Natural Histories, Zoologies, &c. by Authors Famous and Obscure, Arranged as an Abecedary.

In other words, my kind of book! From a description of the Armadillo, taken from Nicholas Monardes' Joyfullnewes Out of the New-Found Worlde, 1596, to the Zebra, described in the Comte de Buffon's 1791 The System of Natural History, each text is accompanied by one of Robinson's delicate, accurate and elegant wood engravings and linecuts.
