The author relates the voyage of the Kon-Tiki expedition across 4300 miles of ocean in a raft as he experienced and sketched it.

A delightful complement to Heyerdahl's better-known account of the Kon-Tiki Expedition, with navigator Hesselberg's charming pen and ink drawings telling his version of the story in graphic form. Heyerdahl characterises Hesselberg somewhere as "a big, hefty chap who can play the guitar and is full of fun", which is clearly a very apt description. I loved this book as a child, and still enjoy flicking through it 50 years later.

Dedicated to my darling wife Liss, who had to sit at home and mind the child, Anne Karin, while I was having strange experiences.
