Granny comes to a town with nothing but a bundle of wool and knitting needles in her bag. She sits down on a tree trunk and knits herself some slippers, a bed, a kettle, a house and finally, a boy and a girl--her grandchildren. When the time comes for the children to go to school, she finds out that knitted children are not accepted. She pickets the city council and even writes to the mayor, only to have the knitted possessions become a tourist attraction. Granny unravels everything and looks for another town where she can bring her grandchildren back to life.
