#37 turkeybaby1123 - L.A. Banks is one of the few authors I know I'll never try again. Minion was easily the worst book I read in 2007. I'm surprised I actually managed to finish it. 11. The Long Fall by Walter Mosley

Banks it was her Vampire Huntress series, and I had bought a book that was somewhere in the middle of the series. I got the first book from the library and was just not that into it, and ... I couldn't read Minion by L.A. Banks.... it just didn't flow and felt stiff. it was about vampire killers. I tried to read it like 3 times and couldn't do it. I felt bad because I wanted to like it. Mein Kampf is not on this list (yet). Of course, a book needs both high ratings (4.5-5.0) and low ratings to get on this ... ... are writing good stories. A tad formulaic at times perhaps, but no to get confused with Charmed and Dangerous or the Vampire Huntress legends, which are truly horrendous. ... was definitely bad, but there wasn't even a hint of hilarity about it.
L.A. Banks - oh god. Why did I even finish Minion? It was absolutely the worst book I read in 2007. I might try another one if someone payed me. Otherwise: not a chance in hell. ... and Dangerous by Candace Havens. I was traveling, and didn't want overweight going home;-)
Another real bad one is Minion by L. A. Banks - it's a whole series, and I got the first few before I found out how badly they were written.
Both of these are compared to /associated with Bu ... #19 - The Huntress by Susan Carroll The Huntress by Susan Carroll. I can't pick a best right now...
But I heartily second Minion as the absolute worst tripe I've read in a very long time. Horridly written, and a bald-faced 'set-up' novel for the rest of her series. Utter Crap.
I just finished The Huntress by Susan Carroll. I will start The Time Traveler's Wife on audio today but I'm not sure what I will start in print. Maybe I'll try one of the Patricia Veryan book's recommended by y'all! ... three in the Rogues series. This was a rej-read for me, but I do love those Rogues!
It is back to Susan Carroll and The Huntress next.
edit: touchstone not showing right book, maybe I have the title wrong. It won't be the first time. :) Best: Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay. It blew me right out of the water.
Worst: Minion by L.A. Banks. I have no idea why I even finished it. ... Salley Vickers - it wasn't bad so much as unworthy of a third read. I gave up on it about halfway through.
Minion by L.A. Banks - probably the worst thing I read this year. The writing was just terrible. I'm still not sure why I finished it.
Sons and Lovers by D.H. L ... ... The Damned: A Vampire Huntress Legend. I knew I was not starting at the beginning, so I interrupted this and acquired Minion. I read that. It is the unique religious and spiritual atmosphere of this series that intrigues me. (Not that I am particularly religious.) The ideas that ... ... by Karen Chance. It's the second book in the Cassandra Palmer Series It's pretty good too.
And I just started Minion by L.A. Banks. I don't like it at all. I'll probably not finish it. Just started Shopaholic & Sister to finish off the series. I finished Minion earlier this evening and, to be honest, I ended up skimming the last hundred pages or so. It seemed like an interesting premise, but it failed to grasp me. I think I'm going to give up on Minion by L.A. Banks. I've only got about a hundred pages left, but I just really don't care about what's happening. I'm not feeling it at all; it's words on a page, nothing more. I might stick it out, but right now it's not looking good.

bluetyson ... The Vampire Huntress Series. I haven't tried it, but other who have say the slang can be tough to understand sometimes. Minion is the first.
