This is a good book for a son to do. As part of coming to grips with your parent, getting paid to do it is a good idea. I think it's a fair book given that it is by a child dealing with a father. I hope mine are as charitable.
As for the man himself, though he was celebrated as a comedian in the US, he defined himself as a character actor, not a funny man. I remember him as a member of that incandescent moment of humour, "The Goon Show." Sellers himself said that "Spike Milligan was a comedian, I am an actor, a character actor." ( )
