I believe that in children's books there is a certain quality that makes the book appealing for both young and adult readers. Good humor that can sometimes be found in the illustrations and the diction of the book can be hard to find. Well in this story, both parties will be satisfied. I felt that the book is very engaging for children including the friendly drawings of the families and the rhyming scheme for younger readers to be able to make inferences about the text. I feel that a mom can also appreciate that this book pokes fun at all of the fuss that families make about making family vacations worthwhile, while forgetting that the best part of a family vacation is the fun that one spend together. This is just a cute story about a family who is trying to spend the day at the beach, however, they keep forgetting things. Furthermore, by the time they are all ready it starts storming so they go back home, but then it becomes sunny again so they just play outside in the backyard.

Funny book about a family who can not pack. They keep turning their car around after each forgotten beach item. When they are finally all packed and on their way to the beach it starts to rain they must turn around again, this time they use all their beach accoutrement on their front lawn. ( )

Loved this book. I think kids would find it enjoyable and funny and adults would find it (mostly) realistic. The family is trying to get to the beach but they keep remembering things they forgot so they have to drive home to get them. By the time they get everything they need for the beach, it starts to rain. Very good illustrations. ( )

It's a perfect day for swimming, building sand castles, and flying kites. But will this wacky family of seven ever make it to the beach? First they need to go back for Fido. Then there's the cooler full of soda. And what about Baby's beloved ducky pail? Even with all the things everyone has forgotten to bring, the unpredictable weather, and the stop-and-go traffic, this family's beach trip is sure to be the best yet. That is, if they (and all their stuff) can get there!
