AR: 4.2 Lovely story told directly from the point of view of a dog - in this case, Ellie a German Shepherd in the USA. Found it great that the author only lets us into a small clues as to who her new owner Jakob is and his back story, and the "Work" that Ellie is eventually trained to do. Spoiler Alert: she is taught to Find ...the basis for a Search and Rescue dog. When Jakob is shot in the line of duty, a new handler with different problems and struggles, Maya, comes into Ellie's life. As an owner of 2 dogs, I think that the author has captured the way dogs appear to view life and think very accurately....I'm not 100% sure about the validity of the last story.....boy in sewer is drowning and Ellie jumps in to save him...swimming with him and holding him above the water....I think that might be a bit TOO much cognitive thought to do that but I guess stranger things have happened. One for dog-lovers and bring your tissues for a moving ( but ultimately happy) ending. no reviews | add a review
