Gwen's father spent most of his life searching for a mystical island that he swears he spent three weeks on when he was twenty years old after his family all died in a boating accident. People on this island have lifespans of 200 years and they are never ill due to a Fountain of Youth type plant that is grown only on this island. After numerous fails in his searching, Gwen's father calls her one day, convinced that this time he is going to rediscover his magical island since it's been almost 50 years to the day when he was first on it. He wants her to be by his side when he rediscovers it. She flies to Puerto Nuevo to meet him before he sets sail, not to join him but to make sure he is okay. He has already left with his search party when she arrives, so now she must find him. Along the way she meets up with Will. Will is a private investigator who is looking for a missing girl. He thinks the girl is among the members of Gwen's father's search party, so Gwen and Will join forces and work together to find them.

This was a unique and different sort of story. It would have worked better for me, though, if it had just been an adventure story without the romance. The main couple didn't click for me, didn't seem very interesting, and I never felt the chemistry between them. There was a colorful cast of secondary characters that I enjoyed a lot. The story was mostly interesting, waiting to see if the island really did exist or not. A stupid action on the heroine's part near the end of the story, and the consequences that followed from it, brought the ending of the story down for me. ( )
