Joan D. Vinge's adaptation for children of David Lynch's screenplay from Frank Herbert's novel is an oversized hardcover with lots of lovely color stills from an abortion of a movie. Yes, David Lynch is brilliant; Dune (the novel) is brilliant; ergo, this should have been a great film. It wasn't, to say the least. And the adaptation here condenses Herbert's epic novel into less than 60 pages. But Kyle MacLachlan is still good looking... ( )
