My favorite this month was Interpreter of Maladies, followed very, very closely by True History of the Kelly Gang.
It was a great month, as I read several other books that might have "won" if read in some other month. Still plugging away at True History of the Kelly Gang. I really, really like it. I haven't had as much time for reading this past week as I would like, otherwise I'd be finished by now. I only have about 100 pages left which shouldn't take too long.
I'm looking forward to starting my next ... ... (The Book of Lamentations), and decided to visit Australia. I'm running around with a bunch of badly-behaved men in True History of the Kelly Gang. I recently read The True History of the Kelly Gang by Peter Carey which was sent to me by an Australian LT book buddy. While I had seen the book in the bookstore many times, and was ... ... usually done with a purpose but it irritates me too. I must read True history of the Kelly Gang - unfortunately, I've got a hardback copy and I definitely prefer paperbacks. (I have weak wrists). :) Just finished The True History of the Kelly Gang by Peter Carey. It was a great read and I learned a lot just by his descriptions of what life was like for the first generation after the people from the penal colonies in Australia. It sounds like they were still treated like prisoners and ... ... but it sucked me in. I adored it). Very, very rarely do I give up on a book before that. The last one I did so with was True History of the Kelly Gang. I can appreciate how clever it was for the author to use authentic bushranger grammar, but I got sick of having to edit the novel in my ... ...
