This is a good example of modern fantasy because the cats in the story do things and talk like humans would. They have snow days and make snowmen in the snow, draw, hug each other, and bake like humans would do. It is not so completely out there that we cannot understand it because everything they do would be realistic if they were humans.

Realistic Fiction for Primary grade levels, Harry and Emily want to do something special for their mom and dad for Valentines day. They attempts lots of different things and ideas but can't decide on the best way to show their love. They challenge themselves and hard on thelselves for thinking that their parents will not liek their gifts (person vs. self). They end up realizing that their parents will like anything they do for them because it is a way to show them how they love them. The water color illustrations show the characters as cats which would make the story a fantasy but it is relatable and possible just the same. ( )
