'This One Thing' was published in 1959 -- six years after Sharman himself had died -- as a "tribute to a great teacher and a warm friend". It was written by committee, and many of its participants are anonymous.

The curious thing about this book is that it tends to emulate the way the Gospel stories were written about Jesus; not immediately after his death, but several years later, when the full impact of his teachings were perhaps felt, and when the person himself was beginning to sorely be missed. The people whom Sharman taught have come together again to reminisce, and to share anecdotes, and to attest to the way in which he changed their lives. For a teacher who emulated in his life Jesus the Great Teacher, this final testament seems entirely fitting.

This book is why I became interested in Sharman in the first place. ( )
