Het zal nooit wat worden tussen mij en Grunberg, dat had ik al langer door. Dit boekje bevestigt dat alleen maar. Let wel: het is best vernuftig geschreven, met tal van retorische hoogstandjes. Maar deze "lof der mensheid", naar analogie met Erasmus, getuigt van zoveel sarcasme en misantropie dat ik er misselijk van word. Wellicht ben ik een van die arme, naïeve, misleide zielen die Grunberg zo treffend beschrijft. ( )
