The Tortilla Quilt is about a young Hispanic girl, Maria, who lives with her grandmother, Lupita, on a ranch in southern California. Grandma Lupita works as a cook for the Olson family, which includes a little girl named Sarah, just Maria's age. They are great friends. Sarah and her mother are stitching a quilt. Maria would love to make one herself, but she knows it is too expensive. Grandma Lupita comes up with an idea of using the flour meal sacks from her tortillas for the quilt squares. With the help of her grandmother and friends, Maria does make her quilt, stitched full of love and friendship.… (more)
