Having never read the story, although knowing the basic story, this seemed like an excellent way to explore it. I was right. This was well done - losing none of the fluidity of Shakespeare's words or themes, but expanding on them to create a visual story that engaged the imagination. I recommend! ( )

While the art isn't the prettiest I've seen, it still brings Hamlet to life...in the future!

It's not Hamlet word for word, but it's pretty close, and the setting has been moved to 2107. Despite the changes, it still feels and reads like Hamlet and was, like Hamlet, hard to put down. Looking forward to more Manga Shakespeare. ( )

The Manga Shakespeare series is not a direct-to-comic adaptation of Shakespeare's plays. These are updated to different times, places and backdrops and should not be confused with the original works. So while Hamlet's story may remain, it is updated to a cyber-world; Romeo & Juliet are updated to modern-day Tokyo, etc. Do not combine with the original works.
