PREFACE TO
THE SECOND EDITION
*
Folksongs and Folklore of South Uist having been out of print for a number of years, I am glad to have the chance of publishing this new edition, where I have made a number of small corrections and additions.
INTRODUCTION
*
This book contains folklore and folksongs taken down in a small community on the south side of Lochboisdale on the island of South Uist in the Scottish Hebrides, where I lived during the years between 1929 and 1935 and near where I have lived ever since.
