If I've been paying attention, several on this list recommend Proust and the Squid and The Brain That Changes Itself. I'm also interested in a book I've seen called Big Brain.

Although I have The Brain That Changes Itself I have not read it yet and it appears that one of my sons has borrowed it. Will have to get to it soon (after it comes back). P.S. Have you read The Brain That Changes Itself? Actually I am reading a book The Brain that Changes Itself on neuroscience and plasticity of the brain, and their theory is that the prevelence of white noise has a detrimental effect on some children. Autistic children apparently get input all at once, and not in sequences, as most people do. So ... ... ending.
