I especially appreciate this book for 3 reasons. First, it was instrumental in my confirming and expanding dozens of branches in our family tree. Second, the history about the Amish and Amish Mennonite religions and immigration is better than any other I've encountered so far. Third, the compactness these authors use to summarize and code thousands of name is elegant. They used what could be thought of as a precursor to the normalized databases, including separate code tables for geographic locations and for research sources. ( )
