... quality series. Isn't Nix grand? The Abhorsen trilogy was truly original and well-done. I enjoy his children's series, Keys to the Kingdom, very much as well. I also didn't like The Supernaturalist as well as the Artemis Fowl books. I agree, interesting but not absorbing. Hope to ...

I'm glad you liked the Nix books! I love them all. I need to catch up on the Keys to the Kingdom books sometime soon...

The Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix are a really original children's fantasy series. I've read the first five. I have Superior Saturday but it ends on a cliffhanger, so I am waiting for Lord Sunday to come out in paperback so I can read the two together. The Old Kingdom series, ...

Mister Monday is my first Garth Nix. I'm impressed.

... I tried the second book, The Raven's Knot, and didn't get too far before moving on to something else. Book 91: Mister Monday by Garth Nix. This is the first book in The Keys to the Kingdom series. YA fantasy-adventure. Oh, this is a fine book, like Lewis Carroll in a dark mood. Fast- ...

... 3rd time. Or Neil Gaiman--Terry Pratchett--Eoin Colfer For boys The Tales of Otori by, Lian Hearn- -Garth Nix's Keys to the Kingdom The last book of this series will be out next spring. Also The Pendragon series by,DJ Mchale. Edited for touchstones not working

How about Alex Rider Stormbreaker or the Keys of the Kingdom series by Garth Nix. Not sure of the length but great series. Hilary McKay's Dog Friday is the first of a trilogy and although this is more of a family story, The Amber Cat has a more ghostly theme.

... the Flora Segunda books or the Charlie Bone series, or either of the Garth Nix series (the Abhorsen trilogy or the Keys to the Kingdom series)?

Ooh, Chrestomanci! I'm jealous of you reading them for the first time. Also, I loved Mister Monday... that reminds me I need to pick up on that series! I think I'm on Sir Thursday.

I got Mister Monday in the mail today! I thought my partner had the whole series, but apparently he lost the first book. Thank god for BookMooch!

How about Mister Monday and sequels by Garth Nix?

Perhaps Garth Nix's Keys to the Kingdom series; it starts with Mister Monday.

I saw Twice upon a marigold was out, and knew I wasn't going to go anywhere near it! Sorrel, I agree with you about the Mister Monday series as opposed to the Abhorsen series - most disappointing indeed.

... same goes for Sleeping Dogs by Sonya Hartnett. Eragon was unoriginal, uninteresting and very poorly written. Mister Monday by Garth Nix started out with promise: some interesting characters and original ideas, but I was disappointed that it never really developed all of its ...

... listening to Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging in the car and I am almost done and then hope to start listening to Mister Monday or The Golden Compass. And I want to read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, but I have not been able to get a hold of it yet.

... able to get these from a library... Um...I'd go with anything by Garth Nix. I preferred the Abhorsen series over Mister Monday and such, but those are good books too. Another GREAT author is Tamora Pierce for Young Adult fantasy. I'm actually surprised no one else has mentioned ...

... I think everybody should read, but I know the teen girls like to read Gossip Girl and similar series. I'd also recommend The Keys to the Kingdom for younger teens. And a kids/teens book I've read recently and was VERY impressed with was Skulduggery Pleasant, I highly recommend that one ...

    Mister Monday by Garth Nix

I finished two more books on my list. #10 Mister Monday by Garth Nix is the first in the Keys to the Kingdom series. While it wasn't fantastic, it did keep my interest for the most part and was a very easy read. It was good enough that I added the second and third books to my list. Some of ...

#7 Mister Monday by Garth Nix The first book in the series of the Keys to the Kingdom series. Easy to read. Not sure if I'll be reading the next 6 books though. I'm trying to decide if I want to or not. I think this is one that will have to be decided with a 2nd book, but for some reason - ...

I'm caught up in Garth Nix's Keys to the Kingdom series, in which many of the characters are immortals who do not need to eat or drink (but enjoy to do so, if they can, for show). In the third book Drowned Wednesday, the main character Arthur is presented with a cup of tea and a biscuit at ...
