I don't want to write a review of this book. But I'm compelled to give it 5 stars! Praise Bob! Did I say that? ( )

Pull the wool over your own eyes! Embalmed in the quite pungent aroma of frop-weed, this text is your portal to sheer, unadulterated Slack! Through it, one may journey from Pink to Slacker, studying the secrets of the conspiracy, the yeti, and the overman. "Bob" even gets off his lazy ass and divulges a few prophesies and excuses. My own copy has at various times been spat upon, framed, and terribly sentient beyond the confines of time and space.

Oh! And "Bob," that son of a thousand politicians, owes me $5. So if you happen to encounter his miraculous image emblazoned on toast or present in a puddle of cat urine, would you remind him?

Have you accepted Bob as your personal savior? You will after reading this book...

Combined with Principia Discordia, covers two of my favorite pseudo-religions. ( )

If you've ever wondered who the smiling guy with the pipe is, grab a copy of this book and get to know J.R. "Bob" Dobbs. ("You'll pay to hear things you already know" being one of their slogans.) The official book of my favorite fake religion. Got this in high school, and was alarmed to stumble across it again when collecting ISBNs to post to LibraryThing. ( )

Amazon.com Amazon.com Review (ISBN 0671638106, Paperback)

Divine obfuscation has a purpose. This is the classic that ushered in so many imitators, imitators who did not get "it." "It" is slack, the desiderata that cannot be desired and is only attainable through "Bob," the evil god/male model who founded the Church of the SubGenius without bothering to "exist." If you read this holy book properly, you will learn to "pull the wool over your own eyes." While this volume may seem hilarious, it's also an incredibly adept deconstruction of religion in general and the human impulse to believe in and follow anyone who promises to give their lives meaning and structure. Plus, it's the only place to find the information you need to survive when the bad alien gods come out of the sky to kill, enslave, and entertain us. If you don't already have a copy, then hand in your hipness ID card and hang your head in shame.
