83. The Merlin Conspiracy by Diana Wynne Jones Rating: 4/5 Deep Secret set the bar high but luckily, this didn't disappoint. In this book, we follow Nick and two children from, Roddy and Grundo, as they try to discover what the new Merlin and Sybil, Grundo's mother, are planning to ...

... but I can't remember them off the top of my head - I'll look them up for you tonight ;) Re the YA vs adult thing, yes, The Merlin Conspiracy was back to being marketed at children again, so maybe someone somewhere realised that really, she's best at YA! The funny thing about Deep Secre ...

... YA. Although now that you mention it, I think I did find it in the adult fiction section of my library (though I found The Merlin Conspiracy in the YA section...). Who knows? As for The Merlin Conspiracy, I'm a little over halfway done with it and I'm loving it so far. It's nice to ...

... she talks about... Oh, and both Newmarket and Sewards End are near to where I live now... I also enjoyed the next one The Merlin Conspiracy, but was mildly disappointed that there's absolutely no mention of Maree or Rupert in it...

... avourites... Just in case you weren't aware (which you probably are, but...), you should really read Deep Secret before The Merlin Conspiracy although, only a couple of characters are carried forwards. Also, strictly speaking, The Lives of Christopher Chant is chronologically before C ...

... checked them all out from the library so hopefully I'll get them read soon :) >163: I checked out: Deep Secret The Merlin Conspiracy Aunt Maria The Power of Three Stopping for a Spell A Charmed Life The Magic of Caprona The Lives of Christopher Chant Mixed Magics ...

... now: Confessions by Jean Jacques Rousseau at work and The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot with a side of rereading The Merlin Conspiracy because sometimes I do that.

Its a good book and there is another book in the series called Deep Secret. Merlin Conspiracy is actually the second, although the books can be read out of order, if I remember the plot correctly. :)

... - and an enjoyable one it is too. I just got Eyes like Stars at the library along with my first Dianan Wynne Jones read The Merlin Conspiracy and Ysabel, which looks intriguing. I also bought some old Madeline L'Engle books in the Austin Chronicles, which I hope are as good as I remember. ...

... Deep Secret by Diana Wynne Jones Another lovely book by Mrs. Jones, though it was weird reading it after I had read The Merlin Conspiracy, which takes place later...still, I really enjoyed it, though now I'm going to have to go back and read The Merlin Conspiracy all over again.

Uh.... yawn... wha...? socialpages is the winner. It is The Merlin Conspiracy, a rather clever tale of wizardry that is Arthurian only in name. It is more complex than is normal for teen fiction. The Berlin Conspiracy is a book of which I had not previously heard. It looks like the kind ...

book #35 Het Merlijncomplot by Diana Wynne Jones Dutch translation of The Merlin conspiracy from the library Yet an other good fantasy book by Diana Wynne Jones, not as good as most Chrestomanci books, but well worth reading 3 1/2 stars book #36 The W ...

Finished The Merlin conspiracy by Diana Wynne Jones (3 1/2 stars) Started Cart and cwidder the first book of the Dalemark Quartet, by Diana Wynne Jones Can you tell I discovered Diana Wynne Jones? LOL Anita

My favourite DWJ book is definitely Deep Secret (and then its follow up, The Merlin Conspiracy).

I haven't read The Merlin Conspiracy, but i have read Catseye. BTW, has anyone else noticed anything wonky about the subject of this thread?

I have not read 1001 Cookie Recipes, But I have read The Merlin Conspiracy.

katttg in 50 Book Challenge : Yay! (Jul 24, 2008, 8:38pm)

... ones. I just finished the first three books in the House with a Clock in it's Walls by John Bellairs, as well as The Merlin Conspiracy by Diana Wynne Jones. So, horray!

... Deep Secret. I think it's interesting, but I don't like how she seperates the two protagonists in this book as much as in The Merlin Conspiracy. I'm also wasting much of my time playing Maple Story online. I've just reached Lv. 20, but it's become a real time waster.

Well, I've been on a Diana Wynne Jones kick lately since reading The Merlin Conspiracy. So now I've moved on to The Dark Lord of Derkholm, but I don't know if I will actually finish it as it isn't one of my favorites of hers. I wish I could reread Deep Secret, but I don't actually own that ...

I like Deep Secret much better than The Merlin Conspiracy - that one always confuses me (too many POVs, not to mention the time slips). I love the centaurs in Deep Secret, and the Babylon secret. And I keep thinking that A Sudden Wild Magic is a Magid book - it's not, there's no Magids in it, ...

For top books by her it would have to be A Tale Of Time City The Merlin Conspiracy Archer's Goon Chrestomanci Series I've never read the other Magid book though. Must get around to rereading A Tale of Time City at some point hehe.

... evidence is dated 1966. That proviso makes me think that one might just have reached its sell-by date. Then went on to Merlin by Stephen Lawton (same touchstone problem) and got stuck halfway.

beatles1964 in Pagans inc : GOOD PAGAN MOVIES (Mar 17, 2008, 10:00am)

I would like to know if anyone has suggestions for good Pagan Movies. I already own The Mists Of Avalon, MERLIN, Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone , Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban, The Blair Witch Project, The Blair Witch Project 2 Book Of Shadows, I plan on buying ...

... and Howl's Moving Castle is great. Other great books by her are; Fire and Hemlock, Deep Secret and the sort of sequel The Merlin Conspiracy, Hexwood, Dark Lord of Derkholm, and the sequel Year of the Griffin. Straight fantasy: Martha Wells has written some magnificent stories; ...

I liked some of them, but others were more annoying. But my favourites were Deep Secret and The Merlin Conspiracy which are a slightly different universe, but still has the parallel worlds thing going. Deep Secret is partly set in a fantasy convention, and it's hilarious.

amberwitch in FantasyFans : Centaurs anyone? (Oct 23, 2007, 4:26pm)

Diana Wynne Jones has a centaur in Deep Secret - it is even on the cover. There may be centaurs in the sort-of-sequel The Merlin Conspiracy too, I don't remember.

... the library and collected a bunch of books - that's one.) 9/21 - And then I got on a Jones kick and went on to read 67) Merlin Conspiracy (in which a character in Deep Secret shows up again) and 68) A Sudden Wild Magic (which doesn't relate to the Magid group at all, as far as I can tell. F ...

... Claidi marches off to find her missing betrothed and instead meets the girl who should have lived Claidi's life. 105. The Merlin Conspiracy by Diana Wynne Jones More about delightful moments and details (The personified cities! Roddy's deathly grandfather!) than the plot, which is ...

... me to read through the whole series - you know, it MIGHT get better. It didn't. I didn't like Diana Wynne Jones' Merlin Conspiracy, though I love her other books. (Even Howl's castle. And I love the Japanese film version as well ;-)) I hated Richard Peck's "Are You in the Hou ...

... ory.) Diana Wynne Jones, Howl's Moving Castle, of course, but I also really enjoyed the Chrestomanci Chronicles and The Merlin Conspiracy. Er -- its really hard to pick a list of only six! I may have to come back later and edit. :)

... Goon, it makes use of more modern day elements, so I suppose they could be grouped. You've also got Deep Secret and The Merlin Conspiracy (the Magid series) as a pair, and a few more standalones. Power of Three could be worth a read as well, although it seems to be a love or hate one, ...

... it the first time, and I never do that. It is actually pretty hard to think of books that are only children. I thought that The Merlin Conspiracy was only very loosely related even though it had Nick in it.

... there are recurrent characters and concepts everywhere, and Nick from DS makes a second and more significant appearance in The Merlin Conspiracy. There may be more in the Magid sequence in the future.

... at a fantasy convention. You can't get better than a snooty Brit named Rupert Venable either. I didn't like the sequel, The Merlin Conspiracy as much, but then I think DWJ's great strength as an author is her ability to come up with new stories not just write series.
