Chicken Little gets hit in the head with a falling acorn and thinks the sky must be falling and she must tell the king. As she rushes toward the castle, various animals follow her on her quest to report the news to the king. Their quest comes to an end when a sly fox tricks the animals in coming in his den. Chicken Little senses something is wrong and is the only animal that escapes. Chicken Little realizes she is a lucky hen, the sky is not falling, and she should stay away from the fox.

Personal Reaction:
This version of the fairy tale is great for young children. It is very simple with great pictures. I don't particular like this fairy tale but can appreciate the lesson learned from the story. It is important to stop, think, and find the truth before jumping to conclusions.

Extension Ideas:
1. There were several different types of birds in the book. Have the children name each type of bird. As each bird is stated, talk about the bird.
2. There are silly names used in the book like foxy loxy. Have children look at the picture towards the end of the book with all the farm animals. Have children come up with silly names for each of the farm animals.
