This book is about a little bear that gets a gift from his grandpa and discovers a lot about all kinds of different seeds and where they come from. I would definitely recommend this book for teachers in grades K-2. It would be great to have the kids follow along with what Bubba Bear does and discover some of the same things. I rated this book a 5 out of 5 because I think it is an all together great book. ( )

In the spring Buddy (a bear) gets a package from his grandfather containing five bags. In the first bag are seeds of different shapes and sizes and he sorts them -- corn, pea, radish, pumpkin, etc. In the second bag are cards showing how seeds grow, which Buddy puts in order. He also collects more seeds -- apple, cantaloupe and watermelon -- as he eats them. In the third bag are sunflower seeds -- some for the birds (with shells on) and some for Buddy (shelled). On the fourth day the bag contains a cardboard frame, glue, and different bean seeds -- to decorate the picture frame. On Friday the bag contained some seeds he can sprout. After they grow, Buddy sends his grandfather a package -- a letter and a framed picture of Buddy holding his sprouts.

In the first bag, he finds corn, pea, radish, and pumpkin seeds. He also adds apple seeds to his collection. In the second bag, he learns how a pea grows. He added cantaloupe and watermelon seeds to his collection also. The third bag contained sunflower seeds. The fourth bag contained beans, and Buddy also added strawberry seeds to his collection. On the fifth day, he planted his seeds along with his new pear seeds. This is an endearing story with both fictional and non-fictional elements that relate to seeds and planting
