Book description
"DATA," THE BORG SAID TO HIM, "DO YOU HAVE A FRIEND?"

Stardate 46772.4

Data stopped and stared at the Borg. A friend. Inefficient phraseolgy, but he understood the vernacular.

"Yes," he said. "His name is Geordi."

the Borg's optical appilance shimmered: "Imagine Geordi standing in this room. If it meant you could feel emotions again, the way you did on Ohniaka Three, would you kill your friend? Would you kill Geordi?"

Data felt the hunger that burned in the heat of the sensations flooding him. He stared at the Borg and let himself be possessed by the orgiastic truth. He had always known he was strong, but now he knew he was dangerous too. He had killed. And he had liked it.

"Yes," Data said calmly, "Yes, I would."
